How can I get a lost driving license number?

Losing your license can be a huge hassle—and even a potential security risk, so it’s best to inform your local DMV and get it replaced as soon as possible. You may be able to find the old number on an expired license or on your vehicle registration.
The good news is that if you can’t find it, it’s easy to get a replacement either in person or online. Here’s what you need to do to get a replacement driver’s license:
- Report your license lost or stolen
- Call your local DMV or visit their website for replacement/duplicate instructions
- Complete the replacement license form
- Submit the form and all required documents
- Pay the replacement fee
Fees for a duplicate or replacement license will differ by state and usually range from $15 to $30. Check your state DMV website for details on license replacement fees.
