That is a great vehicle! The 2020 Chevy Traverse does come with a spare tire for emergencies.
Keep in mind that the included tire will be a compact spare—sometimes called a donut. So, it’s only intended for emergency use, and you should never drive over 50 mph on a spare.
Ideally, you should only use it to drive directly to the nearest tire shop to get your regular tire repaired or replaced.
You can locate the spare tire under the rear bumper of your Traverse. It will be mounted with a cable and covered in rubber so that it remains protected from the elements. Access the tire by opening your rear liftgate and lifting the lid to the storage space on the floor of your cargo area. You’ll notice a labeled bolt on the floor of your vehicle.
To unscrew the bolt, use the provided socket wrench, which is located in the left side compartment of your Traverse’s cargo space. A vehicle jack will be located in the same compartment.
As you unscrew, the spare tire will lower to the ground so that you can unscrew it from the cables, remove the rubber covering, and get to work. If you need additional directions, everything you need to know will be included in your owner’s manual.
Since your son is shopping for a used vehicle, we recommend double-checking to ensure that all of these parts are included and in good condition before purchasing.
