What’s the difference between 87 and 88 gas?
Sometimes I see the regular gas at the pump labeled as 87 and 88. What exactly does that mean? What’s the difference between the two?

The difference between 87 and 88 gas depends on their octane level. It’s also what decides if gas is considered regular, midgrade, or premium.
Gas with an octane level 91 and above is considered premium, octane levels of 89 and 90 are midgrade, and anything below 89 is considered regular gas.
87 and 88-grade gas are considered regular, so there’s no significant difference between them—you can use them for the same engines.
