Does car insurance cover off-road driving?

Ever since I moved to Colorado, I have had the insatiable urge to go off-roading. I’m looking at a Jeep Wrangler so I can hit the dusty trail, but I’m a bit worried about car insurance coverage. Will car insurance cover me if I’m off-roading?

Along with Utah and Arizona,
Colorado
is one of the best places for off-roading! The odd thing is that your car insurance may cover off-road driving, but there’s no guarantee.
Most insurance policies outline normal road usage as part of their coverage limits. If you aren’t driving on a road, you’re excluded from coverage. But since you’re buying a
Jeep Wrangler
, your insurance coverage may include off-road driving.
The only surefire way to know if you’re covered is to call your insurance provider. If you haven’t selected an insurer yet, call customer service hotlines to see if they offer off-road coverage. Never assume that you’re covered, or you might be shocked if your insurance company denies your claim.
If you find that your current car insurance policy doesn’t cover off-road driving, do some research and then use the
