How do I put my Acura TLX in neutral if it has a dead battery?

I just went out to the garage to head to work only to find that I’ve got a dead battery. I have a friend who can give me a jump, but we can’t reach the battery. How do I put my Acura TLX in neutral so I can get it out of the garage?

We’re so sorry you have to deal with a dead battery before work, but thank goodness you’ve got someone to help you get moving again. To put your Acura TLX in neutral with a dead battery, follow these steps:
  • Remove the shift lock cover to the left of the “P” on the console
  • Remove the physical key from your Acura’s keyfob
  • Insert the physical key into the slot beneath the shift lock cover
  • Place your foot on the brake and press down on the key in the slot as you move the shift lever out of Park and into Neutral.
And now you’re all set. As we said, it’s great that you have a friend who could help you with your dead battery, but to make sure you never get stranded, you should make sure you’re covered with a
