Can you get roadside assistance for boats?
I'm planning a boat trip this summer and I want to make sure I'm covered for any possibility. I know you can get roadside assistance for a car, but is it also possible to get it on a boat? If so, where can I find it?
“You can get roadside assistance on a boat!
If you’re looking for coverage, you can either get it through a boat insurance policy or a dedicated company. Some insurance companies that offer roadside assistance for boats are:
There are also a few private companies that offer dedicated roadside assistance memberships for boats. Two popular ones are:
- Sea Tow
You should consider the fact that some roadside assistance programs don’t tow boats on the water. For example, Progressive requires a separate coverage called Sign & Glide for towing on the water. Depending on the type of coverage you’re looking for and the price you’d like to spend, one may be more beneficial than the other.
It’s also good to note that if you don’t want insurance on your boat, for example, you’ll probably need to get a separate membership with Sea Tow or BoatUS. If you’re considering boat insurance, roadside assistance is typically included with your policy.
If you do decide to get insurance, one good way to save money is to bundle your boat insurance with your home or auto insurance by insuring it with the same provider. In order to make sure you’re getting the best deal on your bundle, tools like Jerry can be a big help—we’ll get you multiple customized quotes from different providers, so that all you have to do is choose the plan that works best for your needs. That way, all you have to do is focus on planning your trip and getting out on the water!
Before signing up for coverage, be sure to read over the coverages to ensure they meet your expectations.”
