Can I get a refund after being sold the wrong kind of insurance?

I am a condo owner. Over a year ago, I took out a policy for my personal belongings and the insurer sold me renters insurance. I just learned that this policy doesn't cover me because I own the condo! Is there any way I can get a refund in this situation?

“It is terrible that you were sold the wrong policy! Unfortunately, it is not likely that you would receive a refund for any premium paid to this point.
Renters insurance is typically much cheaper than a homeowners or condo policy, so you were probably paying significantly less than you would have for the appropriate coverage. Also, your personal property was probably covered while the physical structure was not, so there would have been some protection provided.
I suggest contacting your agent or insurer to make sure that you have the appropriate type of policy. Perhaps you should also look for a different agent or carrier going forward. “
