I just turned 16 and got a brand-new truck, which I’m super pumped about. As you can imagine, I’d love to drive my friends around as soon as possible. Does Texas law allow me to drive with them in the car?
: First, if you’re 16 and still have your learner’s license, the only passenger you’ll be able to drive is an adult who is 21 years or older. Once you’ve had your learner’s license for six months and turned 16, you can get your provisional license.
: If you’ve got your provisional license, you’ve got a better shot at being able to carry passengers. You can drive your family members around, as well as one passenger who is under 21. So, you might not be able to show off your sweet new truck to all your friends right away, but you can still drive them one at a time.
. Familiarize yourself with these guidelines and practice safe driving, and you’ll be well on your way to securing a complete license with no restrictions!
