background
Tesla used to be the only car company producing its own charging stations, but Rivian is quickly catching up. The company has plans to spread their charging stations across the U.S. by 2023, and now, even better news: there’s now Rivian Level 3 fast chargers in California and Colorado. Level 3 Rivian chargers are here

There’s nothing quite like getting your EV recharged and back on the road in under an hour—and that’s exactly what the Level 3 Rivian chargers will help Colorado and California drivers to do.
Electrek
indicates that these initial chargers will offer 200 kW of juice for customers, and then will be cranked up to a whopping 300 kW, likely by 2023. The first site opened up in Salida, CO, and the other two Rivian chargers in Inyokern and Bishop, California were unveiled for public use in June of 2022.

When will other states have Level 3 Rivian chargers available?

The Rivian Adventure Network is what the national system of fast-charging stations will be known as. As to when other states will receive these Level 3 Rivian chargers, it’s hard to know. The company has given an estimated completion date of 2023, but 3,500 chargers will be available across the U.S., connected to more than 600 separate locations in every state.

Has Rivian caught up with their production delays?

Not exactly. Amazon is funding the endeavor, as Jeff Bezos’ company owns a notable section of Rivian. They delivered only 2,500 vehicles last year, and 1,200 of those were within the first quarter of 2021. The good news is that Rivian is still on contract to produce 100,000 vans for Amazon, and has $17 billion in cash assets.
Expect this company to thrive in the coming years, but competition in the EV truck segment from Ram, Ford, GM, Tesla, and Toyota will keep Rivian on its toes.
