background
The Fisker Karma driving range is 33 miles battery-only or 240 total miles. Its 20.1 kWh 336 V lithium-ion battery delivers 403 horsepower.
It has only taken 10 years for Tesla to transform the electric vehicle (EV) market, thanks to the
Tesla Model 3
and
Tesla X
. The catch is that Teslas come with a hefty price tag that can easily hit $100,000. Obviously, these aren’t cars that just anybody can own.
The good news for the average consumer is that the EV market has grown—there are now lots of great options. A popular one is the Fisker Karma. The question is how does it compare to other EV models?

The 2012 Fisker Karma

The 2012 Fisker Karma driving range is 33 miles for the EcoStandard, EcoChic, and EcoSport with only the battery and 240 total miles. Its battery is a 20.1 kWh 336 V lithium-ion with 403 horsepower.
The Fisker Karma’s driving range is more average than stellar, but it does offer solid value when other factors like price are considered. It ranks just below the
Chevrolet Bolt
(259 miles), which many people view as its main competitor.
To put it in perspective, the average American commute is 16 miles. This means that the Fisker Karma can easily get you through about 80 driving hours every week. You won't have to desperately search for a charging station on your way to the office.
The Fisker Karma’s somewhat pedestrian driving range is still practical—especially if you spring for some upgrades.

The Fisker Karma charging time and fuel economy

Max driving range is key, but you also want to consider charging time when deciding which EV to buy. Charging time tells you not only how long your EV needs to charge but also how long it will be unavailable to drive
For the Fisker Karma, the charging times are:
  • 110V convenience charging cord: 12 hours
  • 220V EV charge station: 6 hours
This isn’t too bad if you get into the habit of plugging it in once you’re home so that it’s charged for the next morning. Or if there’s a charging outlet where you park for work, you can get your car fully charged by the time you need to commute home.
What about the 2012 Fisker Karma’s fuel economy? Well, with electricity it’s 54 MPGe,but with premium gas, it’s 20 MPG. Neither is overly impressive but they’re manageable.
Luckily, most major cities are implementing charging station programs that should make it easier to charge your EV while you’re out, similar to fueling a regular car. Ultimately, as more people invest in EVs, driving ranges and charging times should concern drivers less. Eventually, it might even be thought of the same way we think of driving while low on gas.

How does the 2012 Fisker Karma compare to its competitors?

The EV market is a competitiveoneand consumers have a lot of options in a variety of classes. The Fisker Karma’s main competitors are the Mercedes-Benz EQS, the Taycan Cross Turismo, the

There’s an obvious price difference between some of these EV models. The Fisker Karma rates well against the Taycan with respect to price and charging hours while offering a slightly higher driving range. The Taycan is the most expensive, but it’s arguably worth the extra investment.
A decade ago, you would just pay a lot of money for whatever EV was available on the market. Now, you have options, which means you need to know which offers the best value.

How to save money on electric car insurance

It’s become known that
insurance for electric cars
costs drivers more, on average, than it does for gas-powered vehicles. There are a few reasons for this: EVs cost more, they are worth more, and owners usually have to shell out more for repairs and parts.
This isn’t the problem that it once was thanks to

This app is great, but the customer service is even better! Not to mention convenient! My husband and I got the lowest rate (much lower than the rates I was finding online through my own searches), quickly, and pretty much all through text message! Thank you so much for a hassle free experience👍
