How can I reset the convertible top on my BMW E46?
I recently purchased a 2004 BMW E46 from a private seller. They informed me that the convertible top was a little finicky. I’m having some trouble with it now. Can I reset the convertible top on a BMW E46?

E46! If you’re having trouble with your convertible top, you can reset it by following these instructions:- Press the emergency lock button. Usually, this is between your rear seats.
- Grab your convertible top on the side and top of the frame. Lift the top up and forward, then fold down.
- Remove the cover panel in the middle of the frame.
- Insert an Allen wrench into the control panel and turn clockwise until the frame locks into the windshield.
- Close the cover panel. Your convertible top should seal.
While this should reset your convertible top, if you’re still having issues, you’ll want to visit a BMW dealership or service center. They can help with resetting the convertible top or replacing any malfunctioning parts.
