Camaro
and is just an absolute jerk about it. Damon’s 1969 is a gorgeous classic, but we can’t help but think that it just screams immortal insecurity.And it’s too bad really, because, with the right hands on the wheel, the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible represents pure style. It’s time to stop letting all the jerks like Damon Salvatore drive classic muscle cars! Save some for the rest of us, fellas!
This particular Camaro would have been built during the legendary turn of the decade, when the 60s hailed in the 70s, and muscle cars just kept getting faster and sportier. 60s-era Camaros are considered the best and certainly the most classic now, but are much better when they are upgraded since their original engine underperforms a bit in today’s climate.
Speaking of climate, for all the rainy drives we take when we’re along for the ride with a bunch of vampires, the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible is a terrible choice for a consistently driven vehicle. It’s amazing Damon’s Camaro isn’t constantly in the shop, and it’s a wonder that Stefan is even able to restore it at all after Damon crashes it!

One of the Camaro’s sworn enemies, the rival muscle car, and another true American classic—the Ford Mustang—does briefly appear in The Vampire Diaries and is driven by Damon.
Unfortunately, Damon has to crash that car, rather quickly, but boy does that thing zoom! The late-60s California Special is a perfect foil to be crashed by the character who normally drives the ‘69 Camaro. Spoiler alert: he also eventually crashes the Camaro.
Just like the Camaro, the Mustang will always be a mainstay of the muscle car community, and the classic ones will always look good in films and television.
