What is ground clearance—and why does it matter?

If you’ve ever scraped the top of a speed bump while driving through a parking lot, you know why ground clearance is important. Put simply, ground clearance is the amount of space you have between the lowest point on your vehicle’s chassis and the ground. This measurement becomes very important anytime you’re driving on uneven surfaces.
The higher your ground clearance, the greater your ability to navigate uneven or rocky terrain without worrying about bottoming out, getting high-centered, or scraping something important off the undercarriage of your car. Experts recommend you have at least 8.5 inches of ground clearance if you plan on doing any off-roading—and just to get you started. That means your Mazda CX-3, no matter what the model year or trim, wouldn’t be a good option for an off-roading adventure.

Is the Mazda CX-3 a good off-road vehicle?

Since even the Grand Touring model of the Mazda CX-3 only offers a maximum of 6.2 inches of ground clearance, it is not a great option for off-roading.
This doesn’t mean your CX-3 isn’t a great option for navigating wet or snowy roads, light-weight towing, or basic getting around. Comparably priced with other compact SUVs in its segment, a new 2021 CX-3 starts around $21,965 while used models go for as little as $19,499.
If you’re worried about fuel economy, the CX-3 doesn’t disappoint. Averaging 31 combined mpg, the CX-3 gets some of the best gas mileage in its segment.

This app is great, but the customer service is even better! Not to mention convenient! My husband and I got the lowest rate (much lower than the rates I was finding online through my own searches), quickly, and pretty much all through text message! Thank you so much for a hassle free experience👍
