What is the Audi Convenience package?

The Audi Convenience package is an add-on grab bag available on nearly all non-electric 2023 Audi vehicles. Unlike other packages, what you get changes from model to model.

It’s available for ten models, including the A3, A4, A5, A6, and A7, if you’re interested In a car, or an SUV thanks to the Q3, Q4, Q5, Q7, or Q8. While the Convenience package is limited to non-electric models, you’ll still have a lot of choices.

What’s included–and which models have the option?

What you get is tied to which model you’re interested in, though most features are technology and other helpful upgrades.

Two items are unique to one specific model: the Q3 package includes LED interior lighting, while the Q4 gives you dual-pane acoustic glass on the front side windows. Neither option comes with any other vehicle.

What it does

Obviously, there’s quite a range in what you might get with the Convenience package. Some items add safety features, while others are just nice bonuses.

Items like adaptive cruise control keep you safe while on the road. This is a fancy version of cruise control in that the car automatically adjusts to the traffic around you. Your Audi alters the speed so you keep a safe distance from surrounding vehicles.

Another safety feature is the Audi side assist with rear assist, which uses sensors to track blind spots. This is especially useful when changing lanes since the vehicle warns you if another car is in the way. It’s definitely a feature you can use regularly.

A few items seem like something that should be standard, including the

alarm system

, but half the models include the alarm system. Adding a car alarm could get you a rate cut on your insurance, so that’s a freebie bonus of the Convenience package.

Other items just make things a bit easier or nicer, like the Audi phone box. Considering you’re getting some great safety features and some nice bonus items, it’s probably worth spending a bit extra for most of the models.

Perhaps one of the oddest features of the Convenience package is the sheer variety of possibilities, so which model you’re considering makes a difference. You do get a lot of safety features most of the time, like blind spot monitoring with the Audi side-assist option, but others are just extras, like self-dimming lights.

Realistically, the lower starting price vehicles rely on the Convenience package as the primary option if you’re looking for extras. Most of them have minimal selections, so you can take it or leave it if you want upgrades.

For example, the A3 model’s only other add-on is the Black optic sport package ($1,550), which gives you perks like black exterior trim and sport suspension—but that’s your only other choice if you aren’t interested in the Convenience package.

The Convenience package is going to be worth it for vehicles that have lower prices to begin with—you get some of the best features if you spend a bit more. For example, the A4 gives you a great range of useful extras, like adaptive cruise control, that you’ll actually take advantage of and will give a major boost to your car.

On the other hand, the pricier vehicles already have a great starting point, so you won’t get as many everyday-use items. The Q8 package gives you things like a heated steering wheel and the Audi phone box, plus the top view camera for a virtual 360° view. Nice, but survivable if you don’t have it.

If you’re looking at models on the more affordable end of the scale, you’ll want to seriously consider adding the Convenience package. You’ll get features you can actually use without spending too much money. Beyond that, it’s the primary option if you want package choices.

However, you might feel like skipping it if you’ve set your sights on the more expensive models. Those vehicles have many great features already, so you won’t feel as much of a need to add more stuff. Unless you absolutely cannot live without that heated steering wheel.
