full coverage insurance
. To use the service, just call 1-800-964-2532.
  • Alfa offers roadside assistance as an endorsement or add-on to existing insurance policies.
  • You can only sign up for Alfa roadside assistance if you live in Alabama, Georgia, or Mississippi.
  • Each roadside assistance event covers up to $200 of services.

What does Alfa roadside assistance cover?

Drivers in
Alabama
,
Georgia
, and
Mississippi
can easily add roadside assistance to their policy if eligible. Every insurance provider is a little different when it comes to roadside assistance. Here’s what Alfa’s plan covers:
  • Towing services: Alfa will pay up to $200 to tow your vehicle to the nearest repair shop. If you prefer, you can choose the repair facility.
  • Battery jump starts: If a dead battery is to blame for the breakdown, Alfa will send a tech with
    jumper cables
, so you’re on your way in no time.
  • Fuel or oil delivery: Alfa won’t leave you stranded if you’re out of fuel and away from a gas station. They’ll deliver up to two gallons of fuel (or other essential fluids), so you can be on your way.
  • Locksmith services: Don’t worry if you
lock your keys in your car
—Alfa will quickly send a locksmith to get into the vehicle. Keep in mind that if you lose the key, you’ll have to pay for the replacement.
  • Flat tire changes: If you’re not sure
what to do with a flat tire
, reach out to Alfa. They’ll send someone to put your spare tire on. You’ll have to pay for a replacement if you don't have one.
  • Mechanical repairs: Sometimes, you might not know what’s wrong with your disabled vehicle. Alfa will send a
    mobile mechanic
to troubleshoot the problem. Roadside assistance pays for up to one hour of labor.
Add roadside assistance to your existing full coverage policy if these look like valuable services. Full coverage means you have
collision
and
comprehensive insurance
. Once you sign up, read your policy carefully because there might be limits on how many times a year you can call roadside assistance.

How to use Alfa’s roadside assistance program

Alfa makes it simple. Just call the Customer Resource Center at 1-800-964-2532 and press “2” for “Claims or Roadside Assistance.” Then, press “2” for “Roadside Assistance.” The Customer Resource Center is available to help 24/7.
If you already have a service provider in mind and don’t want Alfa to send someone, you can reach out to your mechanic or technician for assistance. Then, submit a paid bill to Alfa for reimbursement consideration. Be aware that they aren’t obligated to reimburse you, so it’s still a good idea to call their resource center.
You probably already know this, but note that you can’t call roadside assistance if you’re dealing with a car accident. Refer to your Alfa insurance policy for recovery towing, which should be included as part of your collision coverage or the at-fault driver’s
liability insurance
.

How much does Alfa roadside assistance cost?

Alfa doesn’t offer any set rates for roadside assistance, so it's safe to say that the costs may vary depending on your driver profile. Contact your local service center or the Customer Resource Center at 1-800-964-2532 to ask about their rates. Keep in mind that you’ll need full coverage insurance—which is more expensive than a liability-only policy if you need to upgrade.
Most insurance providers charge between $10 and $20 a year to add roadside assistance coverage, sometimes called
towing and labor coverage
, to your policy. You will see your insurance premium go up, but only a few bucks per month.
Alfa’s roadside assistance is probably comparable to other insurance providers. For instance,
Progressive
offers roadside assistance for $11 to $16, and
USAA
charges $15 to $20. On the other hand, basic
AAA memberships
begin at $59.99 per year. So, which one is a better deal?

Alfa roadside assistance vs. AAA

Even though you can access Alfa’s roadside assistance outside of Georgia, Mississippi, and Alabama, you might be interested in a national roadside assistance auto club. Here’s how Alfa’s coverage compares to the industry leader,
AAA
.
Importantly, Alfa’s roadside assistance only works with the vehicle that’s insured with your policy. AAA offers assistance to any vehicle you’re driving or riding in. AAA also lets you customize the roadside services you get. For instance, you can get up to five miles of towing with the basic plan or up to 200 miles of towing with the premium plan.
AAA members also get perks like travel and hotel discounts along with identity theft protection, which you won’t get from simply adding roadside assistance to your Alfa policy. However, if you’re looking for essential roadside assistance that’s easy to sign up for without all the bells and whistles, Alfa is probably the way to go. It’s also one fewer membership to worry about!
