J.D. Power’s
Top 3 brands in their U.S. Initial Quality Study for two years in a row.
Additionally, a total of eight models from Hyundai’s 2021-2022 line-up have been named IIHS Top Safety Pick and Top Safety Pick + vehicles.

When it comes to safety, security, and driver-assistance features, there are few lists longer than Hyundai’s standard features included on every new Hyundai model.

This entire list of safety, security, and convenience features comes standard on all of Hyundai’s 2022 models, regardless of trim level

The two safety rating systems you need to know

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) provide two of the most common and reliable safety ratings for vehicles.
The
NHTSA
, established in 1993, uses a five-star rating system. Vehicles are given a single overall rating out of five. They also receive individual ratings based on their performance in tests of their crashworthiness in:
  • Frontal crashes
  • Side crashes
  • Rollover crashes
IIHS, on the other hand, uses
six tests
to determine a vehicle’s overall safety, including front and side crash tests. They take into account a vehicle’s crashworthiness and collision mitigation capabilities. IIHS ratings include:
  • Good—the highest rating possible
  • Acceptable
  • Marginal
  • Poor—the worst possible score

Which Hyundai has the highest safety ratings?

The
Kona
,
Santa Fe
,
Sonata
, and
Palisade
all received a perfect 5/5 ratings from the NHTSA. Both the Santa Fe and Palisade were named Top Safety Pick + vehicles by the IIHS for 2022.
The Santa Fe and the Palisade tie as Hyundai’s safest models. The main differences are an IIHS acceptable rating for the LATCH system ease of use on the larger Palisade and a varying IIHS grade on the Santa Fe’s highlights dependent on
trim level
.
