Farmers makes it easy to request a new or duplicate insurance ID card. You can order a printed copy online, by mail, or by fax. You can also download a digital version.
Although your insurance policy might be tens of pages long, you don't need to carry a portfolio everywhere you go. An insurance ID card, or proof of auto insurance card, lists the essentials on a handy little pink paper that you can tuck into your wallet. And as you probably guessed, there’s an app for that, too.
You’ll find a step-by-step guide on how to get your Farmers
car insurance
ID card below.

How to get your Farmers auto insurance ID card

If you didn’t get an insurance ID card with your Farmers policy, or you lost it, there are three ways to get a new one:
Finally, you can download the
Farmers Mobile App
(available for
Android
and
iOS
) to give you access to a digital card on your smartphone. Download the app and sign in using your MyFarmers account information, or tap “Register” if you haven’t yet made an account.
Once your information has been loaded, it’ll be accessible at any point in the future, even if you don’t have an internet connection or you're logged out.
Regardless of which method you choose, make sure to keep your
proof of insurance
in your car at all times. It could help you avoid hefty fines for
driving without car insurance

What’s included on your Farmers insurance ID card

Your Farmers insurance ID card proves that you’re not an
uninsured motorist
, but it doesn’t go into great detail. On it, you’ll find the basics, including:
  • The name, logo, and address of the Farmers Insurance company
  • Farmers’ NAIC (National Association of Insurance Commissioners) number
  • Your first and last name (under “named insured”)
  • Your car’s make, model, and
    vehicle identification number (VIN)
  • The start and end dates of your policy
If you want a more in-depth look at your policy, you’ll need to look at the
declarations page
. It spells out just how much coverage you’re carrying, plus any deductibles and discounts that apply.
Before you head to the photocopier, know that a declarations page can’t be used as proof of insurance, so put it in a safe place and keep your insurance ID card close at hand.

Can you show proof of insurance on your phone?

Yes, it’s
legal to show proof of insurance on your phone
in every state except
New Mexico
. So if you’re making a
Denver to Santa Fe road trip
, make sure you have a printed insurance ID card, just in case.
If you’re on the road in any other state, feel free to pull out your phone and give the screen a few taps to pull up your info on request.

Where can I find my insurance information on the Farmers Signal app?

The
Farmers Signal app
doesn’t provide proof of insurance. It's a telematics app that records your speed, braking habits, cellphone usage, and more while you're driving.
The Signal app is useful for netting
car insurance discounts
, but for identification purposes, you'll need the Farmers Mobile App.
