The 2021 Nissan Armada was available with rear-wheel drive (RWD) or four-wheel drive (4WD) and with four trim levels that gave the model eight available configurations to pick from. The cheapest configuration had an MSRP of $50,995, while the most expensive was $69,995.
The Armada made significant changes for the 2021 model year to keep up with the competition in the large SUV class. Upgrades included nicer interior materials, a larger infotainment touchscreen, and other aesthetic enhancements. The 2021 model also offered a little more horsepower than the prior model and an impressive 8,500-pound towing capacity across all trims.
If you’re shopping for a 2021 Armada, you’ll want to make sure you consider all the available configurations before you buy. That’s why

2021 Nissan Armada configurations

The 2021 Nissan Armada that you get will largely come down to the availability of choices in two areas: the trim level and the drivetrain. There are four
trim levels
available, and two drivetrains—RWD and 4WD.
You can get 4WD on every trim level, but it will add about $3,000 to the price and cost you approximately 1 mpg in the
combined mileage
Here are the four trim levels you can get with the 2021 Armada:
  • S: This entry-level trim includes standard 18-inch wheels, seating for up to eight passengers, a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen display, and built-in navigation.
  • SV: This mid-level package is much like the S trim with a few perks, including heated front seats.
  • SL: The SL trim introduces optional second-row captain’s chairs and a power-folding third row.
  • Platinum: The highest available trim is also the most luxurious, and includes climate-control front seats with heating and cooling.
The performance specs are consistent across the model line, as each trim comes with the same powertrain: a 400-horsepower 5.6-liter V8 paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission. They each are capable of towing up to 8,500 pounds and can exert up to 413 lb-ft of torque.
The main differences you’ll see are regarding the RWD versus 4WD drivetrain, cosmetics, technology, and comfort amenities. Here’s a more detailed rundown of each configuration.

Nissan Armada S with RWD

Starting price: $50,595
Although it’s
not technically a luxury SUV
, the Nissan Armada feels like one, even in the base trim level. The seats are cloth or leatherette, and you’re stuck with the bench configuration for the second-row seats, but otherwise, the standard features are pretty impressive. They include:
  • Nissan’s Intelligent cruise control, lane intervention, blind-spot intervention, and forward-collision warning systems
  • Automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection
  • A 7-inch Drive-Assist display that’s separate from the 12.3-inch infotainment display
  • NissanConnect services and Wi-Fi hotspot

Nissan Armada S with 4WD

Starting price: $53,595
You’ll keep all the features outlined above if you add the 4WD powertrain. Getting a 4WD vehicle has its obvious benefits including more off-road potential and better handling in winter conditions. But it will cost you an extra $3,000 and your combined fuel economy will drop from an already dismal 16 mpg to just 15 mpg.

Nissan Armada SV with RWD

Starting price: $54,595
is much like the S, with a couple of practical upgrades—a wireless phone charger and a trailer brake controller. The trailer brake controller makes the model an appealing option if you intend to tow, especially if you don’t want to pay for the higher-level trims. The SV also introduces heated front seats.

Nissan Armada SV with 4WD

Starting price: $57,595
Once again, adding 4WD brings the practicality of added traction control but also means a steep price increase and worse fuel efficiency.

Nissan Armada SL with RWD

Starting price: $57,995
The Armada wanders a little further to the edge of luxury territory with the SL trim, which has an optional second-row captain’s seat setup that you can swap in exchange for the bench seat. It also adds the following:
  • 20-inch wheels
  • A power-sliding moonroof
  • Power liftgate
  • Leather-appointed seats
  • Remote start
  • Faux-wood trim
  • Driver’s seat memory settings
  • A 13-speaker Bose premium sound system

Nissan Armada SL with 4WD

Starting price: $60,995
If you plan to hit a rugged trail or you’re driving in less-than-ideal conditions, you may want to purchase the 4WD drivetrain. As in all other trims, it adds $3,000 to the price and drops your combined mpg by one mile.

Nissan Armada Platinum with RWD

Starting price: $66,995
Armada Platinum
stands out for two reasons: its opulent features and the $9,000 price jump from the SL to the Platinum. But for that price, you get access to everyone the lower trims offer, plus all the available Nissan Intelligent safety features, quilted leather-appointed seats, and 22-inch aluminum alloy wheels
You’ll also get:
  • Intelligent backup intervention, around view mirror, and rearview mirror
  • Climate-controlled front seats with heating and cooling
  • Heated second-row seats
  • Birdseye maple wood-toned trim
  • Heated, leather-wrapped steering wheel
  • Rear passenger entertainment system with 8-inch screens

Nissan Armada Platinum with 4WD

Starting price: $69,995
It’s the most expensive 2021 Armada you can buy—not including add-on packages and options—and with the 4WD drivetrain, it should handle everything from smooth city streets to wintry backroads.
