The 2020 BMW 7 Series has a starting MSRP of $87,445, with some trims costing around $160k. It's lauded for its excellent engine options, smooth and quiet ride, and handsome exterior styling. Unfortunately, the interior—though spacious—leaves something to be desired.
Obviously, you want your vehicle to look cool from the outside—but, since you’ll be experiencing it primarily from the inside, how the interior looks and feels is incredibly important, too. Plus, if you’re shelling out six figures for a luxury vehicle, you most definitely want a luxury experience from every angle.

2020 BMW 7 Series interior

Whether you sit behind the wheel of a 2020 BMW 7 Series or stretch out in the back seat, we can guarantee that a resounding word will come to mind: comfortable. Not only is the vehicle one of the largest luxury sedans on the market, but it offers an incredibly soft and silent ride, with light and buttery steering and even an optional semi-autonomous driving mode.
Let’s take a look at some of the interior’s specifics.

Seating

The 2020 BMW 7 Series seats five individuals total, and you’ll be able to stretch out comfortably no matter which position you select. In fact, the back seat feels more like a limousine—perfect for holding on-the-go business meetings or just falling asleep during road trips.
The seats themselves are among the most comfortable that BMW offers, with excellent thigh support and ergonomic cushioning to support everyone’s lower back and neck.
Standard features include Dakota leather upholstery, 20-way power-adjustable front seats, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a power rear-window sunshade, and soft-close doors.
For an extra fee, you can upgrade to Nappa leather upholstery and add on:
  • Massaging front and rear seats
  • Heated and ventilated front and rear seats
  • Heated armrests in the front and rear seats
  • Power-adjustable rear seats
  • Power rear side-window sunshades
  • Power-adjustable rear-seat footrest

Tech

Unfortunately, the 2020 7 Series technological features are nothing to write home about. You’ll use a touchscreen or center console control button to access BMW’s iDrive 7.0—a straightforward interface system.
Bluetooth is standard, as is Apple CarPlay. Non-Apple owners are out of luck, however, as Android Auto is not available. Two USB ports are available up front for charging, and some 12-volt plugs can be found throughout the cabin.
If you’d like your rear passengers to be able to access a little bit more technology, you can pay to add a Samsung tablet with a dock between the rear seats—but it’ll really just let them control the infotainment system.

Storage

Fortunately, the spacious cabin doesn’t cut into the 2020 7 Series trunk space whatsoever. You’ll enjoy an unmatched volume of up to 18.2 cubic feet (with the rear seats folded), which is considerably larger than any other vehicle in this same class.
However, the trunk’s awkward shape does make fitting in bulkier items a bit more difficult. You’ll be fine packing lots of groceries, but you’ll have to play a bit of Tetris if you’re hauling several carry-on suitcases.
The rear seats do offer some small-item storage, such as traditional seatback pockets and even a small table within the armrest, perfect for placing a laptop.

Style

Aesthetically, the inside of the 2020 BMW 7 Series is pretty meh. Don’t get us wrong, it’s certainly not ugly—but for its six-figure price tag, it offers very little to impress passengers.
The comfy interior feels quite plain and businesslike, offering little to no standout luxurious materials or eye-catching designs. Take just one look inside any of the 7 Series major competitors and you’ll instantly see what we mean.
We will say that your interior color options are quite diverse, with nearly 20 different upholstery colors to choose from. (Of course, several of them are just varying shades of cream.)

How to optimize your insurance coverage

This app is great, but the customer service is even better! Not to mention convenient! My husband and I got the lowest rate (much lower than the rates I was finding online through my own searches), quickly, and pretty much all through text message! Thank you so much for a hassle free experience👍
