With its base four-cylinder engine, the 2018 Infiniti Q50 produces just 208 horsepower, but upgrading to either of its V-6 engines will offer you 300 or even 400 horsepower—all the while being paired with all-wheel drive and a seven-speed automatic transmission.
The Infiniti Q50 is one of Infiniti’s tamer vehicles, but as a compact executive car, it’s not necessarily designed to be winning any races anyway. That being said, the 2018 Infiniti Q50 does offer a range of powertrain options, two of which offer a decent amount of horsepower for everyday drivers who want their executive sedan to have a little pep in its step.
But just how much horsepower can you expect to find in your 2018 Infiniti Q50—and which engine should you choose to unlock the maximum amount?

2018 Infiniti Q50 horsepower

The exact amount of horsepower you can expect your 2018 Infiniti Q50 to produce is going to depend on which of its three engines you’ve got under the hood.
On the Q50 2.0T
Luxe
and 2.0T
Pure
models, you’ll find a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 208 horsepower @ 5,500 RPM and 258 pound-feet of torque @ 1,500 RPM. These trims—like all 2018 Q50 models—are paired with all-wheel drive and a seven-speed automatic transmission.
While these are easily the least powerful of the Q50 models for 2018, they are also the most affordable, with respective MSRPs of $39,550 for the Luxe and $37,200 for the Pure model.
For a little more power, drivers can upgrade to either the 3.0T Luxe or the 3.0T Sport models. These two trims are both powered by the same 3.0-liter V-6 engine that produces 300 horsepower @ 6,400 RPM and 295 pound-feet @ 1,600 RPM. With respective prices of $41,150 and $42,050 these models are only marginally more expensive than the Q50 2.0t line-up, and offer 50% more horsepower with their upgraded engines.
Finally, if you’re really looking for a sporty Infiniti, you can upgrade to the top-tier
Q50 Red Sport 400
trim. Powered by a 3.0-liter V-6 engine, the Red Sport 400 produces 400 horsepower @ 6,400 RPM and 350 pound-feet of torque @ 1,600 RPM, making it the most powerful of the powertrain options for the 2018 Infiniti Q50 compact executive car.
That being said, it’s also the most expensive—by a long shot—with a starting MSRP of $53,000.
