The 2016 Audi A6 has four powerful engines available. While the base four-cylinder achieves a respectable but unexciting 252 horsepower, the 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 gets 450 horsepower — and all are available with the quattro® all-wheel-drive system.

2016 Audi A6 horsepower

The amount of horsepower available on the A6 depends on the engine you choose, and Audi has no shortage of selection.
The 2.0T
Premium
and 2.0T
Premium Plus
trims come with the base 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four, capable of generating 252 horsepower at 5,000 to 6,000 rpm and 273 lb-ft of
torque
at 1,600 to 4,500 rpm.
These are great picks for those looking to save money without sacrificing too much speed. While the MSRP in 2016 started around $46,000, today’s
Kelley Blue Book fair market range
sits somewhere between $20,000 and $23,000.
If you’re looking for a diesel option, there’s the 3.0L TDI Premium Plus or 3.0L TDI Premium. Both are equipped with a 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel V6, which gets 240 horsepower at 3,500 to 3,750 rpm and 428 lb-ft of torque at 1,750 to 2,250 rpm.
A used TDI will run you just a bit more than the lower trims, between $26,000 and $34,000.
The 3.0T Premium Plus and 3.0T
Prestige
both come standard with an extra-impressive 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel V6. For between $21,000 and $28,000, that engine is capable of getting 333 horsepower at 5,500 to 6,500 rpm and 325 lb-ft of torque at 2,900 to 5,300 rpm.
If you really have a need for speed, you can shell out a little more money for the S6 Package, featuring a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8, which gets a whopping 450 horsepower at 5,800 to 6,400 rpm and 406 lb-ft of torque at 1,400 to 5,700 rpm. The Premium Plus and Prestige trim S6 can run you anywhere between $31,000 and $37,000.
All of these also come equipped with all-wheel drive and an option of seven- or eight-speed automatic transmissions, with the exception of the base trim. The base comes standard with front-wheel drive, but all-wheel drive is available.
