background
classic Lamborghini Countach
On one cold night in the 1960s, an elite group of Lamborghini engineers led by Paolo Stanzani and designer Marcello Gandini wrapped up the design of a Lamborghini Countach prototype. The new beautiful car is set to push Lamborghini to the pinnacle of the
luxury cars
market and outmatch their arch-rivals, Ferrari.
What happened behind the closed door caused a ripple effect that we are witnessing 50 years down the line on the Lamborghini Countach’s anniversary.

What exactly happened half a century ago?

In 1971, optimistic Lamborghini top executives gathered at the Geneva Motor Show to unveil the Lamborghini Countach, a machine Gandini and Stanzani have tirelessly worked on under the codename LPI 800-4, according to
Lamborghini
The Countach had timeless features, and under constant improvements, the car shone its way through the ‘80s, ‘90s, and late 2000s.
Now, 50 years down the line,
Lamborghini resurrects the Countach
in a never-seen style, and once again, sports car enthusiasts are taken by surprise. But before that, the auto media had got a whiff that Lamborghini was manufacturing high-end cars secretly.
Yes, that was true, and 112 units of new and radical Countach were being rolled down the production line, and according to
Car and Driver
, each will have a base price of a whopping $2.64 million.

Design features of the vintage Lamborghini Countach

To begin with, the distinctive look of the car's exterior shows you precise geometrical lines and masterfully melded retro angles, which are paired with aerodynamic efficiency and beauty.
The wedge-shaped car was more angular, a critical design style Alfa Romeo and Lancia had been working on too. Maestro Gandini was keen to reduce the car's drag and made a flat ax-like front and truncated tail.
The interior incorporated bold designs, new technologies, and an analog speedometer, which was terrific for a relaxed drive.
The iconic scissor doors opened with the help of gas struts and tilted forward slightly. You will find similar scissor doors in the Lamborghini Countach’s 50th-anniversary edition too. But in general, both the interiors and exteriors were excellent for a luxury car worth millions today.
The vintage Countach's rear-wheel-drive V12 engine was longitudinal and coughed 440 horsepower. The engine had substantial power to accelerate the car from 0-100 km/h in just 5.4s, reaching a top speed of 288 km/h.

The Lamborghini Countach 50th-anniversary edition

The Lamborghini Countach’s 50th-anniversary model is reinvented in the original wedge-shaped design, but it lacks the massive rear wings and pop-up headlights this time.
The exterior is characterized by geometrical lines borrowed from the 1970's model, and this car has a fascinating look despite your position.
The modern audience would love the car's hexagonal wheel arches that enhance its speed and looks combined with a flat nose.
Unlike its forefather, all 112 models of the modern Lamborghini Countach come with a fully electrical capacitor and a V12 engine. The engine produces 802 horsepower, and you require only 2.8s to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h.
Last, before you request the Swiss bank account from Lamborghini to book your unit, the 112 models available are equal to the number of Countach's produced in the '70s. So, other than the price rising past $1.24 million, the cars will disappear from the market soon.
