Lamborghini has announced that they are reviving the Countach name.
The famous Lamborghini Countach is coming back, and car fanatics are losing it.
The Lamborghini Countach's legacy
At the 1971 Geneva Motor Show, Lamborghini unveiled the LP500 concept. Hitting the market in 1974, it was renamed the Countach and became one of the first supercars in production.
Even 50 years after it was shown, the Countach’s sleek, futuristic style still manages to look modern. And it was this design that would make the rear-wheel-drive supercar famous.
The car's design and power have given the Countach a prized place in the history of automobiles. Despite its fame, less than 2,000 Countachs were made.
On August 9, 2021, Lamborghini’s official account Tweeted a short teaser video showing a child hanging a poster with the classic Countach, before announcing that a new Countach was coming.
Since the teaser was released, Lamborghini has uploaded a few short videos about the new Countach.
Each video indicates that the new Countach, the Countach LPI 800-4, will be a tribute to the original. This includes a reimagined version of the Countach's wedge shape.
While these teasers mainly focus on nostalgia, many specific details are not yet known. However, there is quite a bit of speculation about the new Countach.
The new Lamborghini Countach could be a hybrid

One significant difference is that the new Countach may be a plug-in hybrid. The "LPI" in its name may refer to "Longitudinale Posteriore Ibrido", used in previous Lamborghini hybrid vehicles.
In addition to being a hybrid, the new Countach will have power expected from a supercar. This means it will likely reach near 800 horsepower, hinted at by the "800" in the vehicle's name.
Because information on the new Lamborghini Countach hasn’t been released, no one knows the car’s cost.
Despite not knowing, the initial run of Countach LPI 800-4 models has already sold out. In the tradition of the Countach, the new model has a limited production with only 112 vehicles made.
The Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 is both a love letter to a classic supercar and a testament to the power of modern car technology.
Lamborghini keeps the original Countach's design alive and also continues the car’s futuristic concept by including a hybrid powertrain, showing what a modern supercar can do.
Seeing as the new Countach will be extremely limited, most drivers will have to admire it from afar.
