The 2013 Cadillac ATS competed in a bracket with BMWs, Mercedes, Audis, and more. But even among the premier luxury vehicles of its class, it stood out.

background
The 2013 Cadillac ATS combines the luxury its namesake is known for with the reliable sporty performance, as well as striking looks that drivers crave. Cadillac built the compact ATS sedan from the ground up to compete with the BMW series and other popular European sedans.
It was full speed ahead. The 2013 Cadillac ATS was designed with all the sharp lines you expect from a
luxury sports car
of its caliber. And it was engineered with premium performance in mind. Although it may be drowned out amongst the BMWs, Mercedes, and Audis of its class, the ATS is not a car that should be forgotten.

What is great about the 2013 Cadillac ATS

The Cadillac ATS is a striking car, with looks to rival its more well-known competitors.
The 2013 ATS presents itself well with an attractive style similar to Cadillac's CTS model. It is 8.5 inches shorter than the CTS, but still recognizable enough to set it apart—mostly due to its drawing from Cadillac's Art and Science Design Philosophy.
The car features sports seats with adjustable side bolsters and thigh support for comfortable driving. It’s also available in seven different interior colors, as well as your choice of finishes and trims. Moreover, drivers can enjoy great sightlines thanks to relatively slim A-pillars.
Luxury car buyers are not likely to be disappointed with the stylish, rich feel of the ATS as a whole. Large toggles beneath the central speedometer make it easy to operate the gas-saving cruise control function and head-up display.

How well does ATS perform on the road?

The 2013 Cadillac ATS hit the road with a solid front-engine and rear-drive layout. It also featured four-wheel disc brakes and independent suspension—as well as ZF electric power steering. The whole package is based on Cadillac's Alpha platform, according to
Car and Driver
.
The ATS was made available in three different engine choices to satisfy a variety of driving styles. It could also be purchased with optional all-wheel-drive or manual transmission if preferred. With top speeds ranging from 130-152 mph, the ATS's performance was more than adequate for a luxury car.
The 2013 Cadillac ATS was designed for comfortable driving. A
CNET Roadshow
review notes that the 3.6-liter V6 engine responds well to accelerator input. And for adrenaline junkies, the big four-cylinder ATS revs loud enough to impress.

Cadillac's CUE technology for the win

MORE: Cadillac Beat Out Tesla for an Impressive Award
Cadillac's CUE (Cadillac User Experience) system was relatively new in 2013. The 8.0-inch LCD touch screen placed the
car's technological functions
at the driver's fingertips. Furthemore, its smart infotainment system combined access to navigation functions, phone, and audio features with the simple use of a touch screen.
A proximity sensor kept the screen uncluttered and only produced additional buttons when you needed them. It detected the motion of your hand nearby and the previously hidden icons popped up on the screen.
Just like on a smartphone, you can change the scale of the map by closing or spreading your fingers. You can pair your phone to the CUE navigation system and your contact addresses are there at a touch.
Motor Authority
notes that Cadillac's CUE has been replaced (or at least updated) since it made its debut in the 2013 ATS. But it still remains a win for an unforgettable Cadillac.
