I have a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan and just the other day the passenger side sliding door just up and froze on me—the lock won’t move out of the locked position and even the power locks won’t open it either. Why won’t my 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan’s sliding door open?

Sliding door problems are common on the Dodge Caravan and
Dodge Grand Caravan
. While we can’t say for certain what the issue is, you may be dealing with a faulty door actuator or a jammed door lock/latching mechanism assembly.Depending on how savvy you are with automotive repair, you could attempt to fix the problem for yourself—this would, however, require removing the faulty sliding door’s interior panel, which can be a pain to deal with. Rather than try to explain the process here—there’s simply no way to condense it and have it still be useful—we’d suggest looking up some videos on YouTube that go over how to perform this procedure.
On the flip side, you could—and should, if you have no automotive expertise—have a mechanic take a look and diagnose/fix the issue for you—just know that the repair bill is likely to be steep, between $600 and $1,500 depending on which part is at fault.
In any case, we’d recommend filing a complaint with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) regarding this issue because, as of 2023, only the 2016-2017 Dodge Grand Caravan has been issued a recall for problems with the sliding door actuator.
