Why is my tire pressure light on?

The yellow light on my dashboard came on and won’t go away, the one with the exclamation point inside the little horseshoe shape. I looked it up and found out it’s the tire pressure light, but I don’t know why it’s on. What makes the tire pressure light come on?

Eek—a nagging
dashboard light
that won’t go away can be stressful, especially if you don’t know the cause. But no worries—we have your answer. That tire pressure light comes on when your vehicle’s tire pressure is too low.
The Tire Pressure Monitoring System or tire pressure light typically has one of two formats. One is a cross-section of a tire (that totally looks like a horseshoe) with an exclamation point inside. The other is the Tire Pressure Monitoring System’s acronym—TPMS. Both types are usually yellow or amber, and they both mean the same thing. Your
tire pressure
is too low!
To get that light turned off, head to a gas station and fill up your tires](

). After filling your tires to the recommended psi, drive around for a while, and your TPMS light should turn off. If it doesn’t, you may need to reset the sensor.
