Why is my cruise control light flashing on my Subaru Impreza?
My Subaru Impreza has been a great car so far and I haven’t had any issues until yesterday. When I was driving, the cruise control light started to flash, which made me instantly nervous. Is there a reason why the cruise control light is flashing on my Impreza?

The cruise control light flashing on your Subaru Impreza is the result of a failure of one of the components connected to your cruise control, or at least in most cases. When the light is flashing, your cruise control is also disabled, so don’t try to use it.
In a best-case scenario, it may just be flashing because your gas cap is loose. Otherwise, one of these issues might be the culprit:
- A faulty speed sensor that pairs with the cruise control system of your Impreza
- A blown fuse for your cruise control
- Various other electrical or mechanical issues
The only way to know what’s wrong for sure is to take your car to a mechanic. The mechanic can run an onboard diagnostic to diagnose the problem and fix the issue.
