Where is the 2015 GMC Acadia battery location?

I was washing my car in the driveway, and my mother came outside, yelling at me that the kitchen sponge I was using would hurt the paint. She insisted I go down to AutoZone and buy a microfiber sponge, which I did because I love my mom. But is she right? Or can I use a kitchen sponge to wash my car?

My insurance company decided the loss was not a total loss. However, my car was with the body shop in California for over one year. I paid my car payment and insurance premiums the entire time.
