Where can I find my Dodge’s paint code?

Your Dodge’s paint code can be found on the driver’s side door jamb safety certification label. It is a three-digit code found under the barcode that may include numbers and letters (it typically begins with P). For some vehicles, you will see the paint code formatted as BS/GBS.

What if there’s no paint code on the car’s label?

The
paint codes on older models
of Dodge vehicles were often placed on the radiator support, but as this area often gets covered with engine fluids, the tag would be hard to find. If you have an older model or just can’t seem to find the paint code on your car, you may need to use your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
Here’s where you can find the VIN for your Dodge:
  • On earlier Dodge truck models, you may need to check the rear frame above the suspension spring. Later models will have your VIN on the frame of your front left or right wheel arch.
  • The VIN on earlier Dodge cars may be on the floor of the driver’s or passenger’s side. Later models often have a sticker containing the VIN at the bottom of your windshield.
  • You can also look to any official documentation such as your car’s owner’s manual, registration, or insurance card to find the VIN.
Once you find the unique 17-digit VIN, use it to look up your Dodge paint code online or by calling a dealership.

Paint touch-up tips

Before diving in, check out these tips for making your paint job easier:
  • Use sandpaper (gently) to remove any rust and leave a rough surface that allows the paint to cling more easily.
  • Have a cloth handy that you can use to remove any contaminants, like wax or grease, before painting.
  • Use a primer! Primers help address any damage to the base material.
  • Apply thin layers of paint to build up the color gradually.
  • Don’t forget the clear coat after the color to add a protective layer.
  • Consider using a polishing component to give it that new-car finish.
  • Consult

    if you are still uneasy.
Smaller touch-ups can be tackled with a little DIY effort, but you may want to take your vehicle to a professional if your Dodge’s paint requires a lot of work.
