Where is the 1998 Buick LeSabre fuel pump relay location?

My grandfather has a somewhat ancient 1998 LeSabre that, based on what he’s describing, has a broken fuel pump relay. I want to go check it out, but where should I look to find it?

The 1998 Buick LeSabre fuel pump relay is located to the right of the glove box. You’ll have to remove three 8-mm screws along the front edge and a wingnut on the driver’s side near the accelerator to loosen the insulation panel. Once loosened, twist the courtesy light to remove it, and using a pair of pliers, squeeze the plastic nipple to remove the SIR. Remove the insulation panel from the vehicle.
Once the insulation panel is removed, the fuse/relay panel will be to the right of the glove box. There should be a diagram of the insulation panel’s fuse/relay panel layout there. The fuel pump relay should be in the left column of relays just above the fuses.
If you suspect the fuel pump relay has gone bad, watch for these signs:
  • Stalling
  • Check engine light is on
  • Car won’t start
  • Rough idling
  • Bad fuel pump
  • Poor engine performance
  • No fuel pump noise
  • Exhaust system issues
  • Variable fuel consumption
