Where did the Tesla logo come from?

I heard the logo on my Tesla is supposed to look like a kitty cat’s nose. Is that true? If not, where did the Tesla logo come from?

The Tesla logo certainly does resemble a boopable kitty nose. But despite Elon Musk’s jumping on a viral internet post perpetuating this theory (he’s not made about it), that’s not what the logo actually represents.
The Tesla logo comes from a diagram of an electric motor. Rather, it’s a small cross-section of an electric motor. As adorable as the cat theory is, we have to admit this one makes a good deal more sense.
