“If you want to find the best rates, always shop for car insurance quotes online so you can compare prices based on the coverage you need. Get at least three to five quotes from insurers with a good reputation for reliability and customer service.
Although you can pay $500 yearly to the State of Virginia and forego auto insurance, this isn’t recommended.
You should probably also opt for insurance coverage that goes above the 25/50/20 minimum liability specified by the state. Consider getting 100/300/100 liability coverage that will provide better protection. This breaks down to:
- $100,000 for bodily injury liability per person
- $300,000 for bodily injury liability per accident
- $100,000 for property damage liability per accident
With this type of liability insurance, you probably won’t have to pay out of pocket in the event of an at-fault accident.
