When you turn 18 do violations clear off of your driving record?

I’ve heard that your criminal record clears once you turn 18. I haven’t committed any felonies, but my driving record definitely has a few blemishes. Is there any chance your driving record clears when you turn 18?

Unlike some crimes, driving violations do not clear from your record when you turn 18. However, most states have policies in place that clear your driving record every few years.
For example,
California
uses a
point system
that assigns points to offenders for violating traffic laws. If drivers earn enough points within a given amount of time, their license could be suspended. But once a given timeframe passes, those points are removed from your record.
Of course, points are not the same as your driving record—especially for insurance companies. While insurance companies won’t typically hold your violations against you forever, you’ll likely have to pay higher premiums until you prove you can consistently drive safely. Since young drivers already face high premiums, a young driver with violations on their record could face astronomical car insurance rates.
