When is the best time to visit the Petrified Forest National Park?

My mom and I want to take a road trip through Arizona to visit the Petrified Forest National Park. We’re planning it a couple of years in advance so we can make sure we go at the perfect time. When is the best time to visit the park?

Wow, we applaud your forward-thinking—and we hope you keep us updated on how the trip goes!
The best time to visit the Petrified Forest National Park is in the fall when the wildflowers are still blooming but summer crowds and monsoon season aren’t in full swing. Fall temperatures in the Petrified Forest are moderate, and the fall months tend to be less rainy.
If fall doesn’t work, spring is a nice alternative, as wildflowers start blooming in March. But summer isn’t recommended. Monsoon season is July through September—and it makes for hazardous conditions that could really dampen your trip!
