Take your great-aunts on a barn-burning journey south from

, Texas via I-25 S, a drive of 14 hours and 10 minutes that covers 930 miles. It’s a long drive, so break it up into a few days so as not to overwhelm your great-aunts, eh?Here are the highlights of a trip that will take you from Denver to San Antonio:
- Hop onto to I-25 S towardsColorado Springsand make a stop at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, a mountainside conservation park that’s home to more than 700 animals, including the world’s largest giraffe herd.
- Keep heading south before stopping inPueblo, Colorado, to stretch your legs at the Arkansas Riverwalk. It features a promenade, boat rides, concerts, and other family-friendly activities.
- Barrel south intoNew Mexico, turning onto US-87 S. Be sure to stop at Capulin Volcano National Monument, for hikes around the base and the crater of this dormant volcano.
- Roar into North Texas and pay a visit to Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, where your great aunts will no doubt be flabbergasted by this kooky public art installation featuring half-buried Cadillacs covered in bright graffiti.
- Drive south on I-27 and stop in Lubbock, home of the late rock’n’roller Buddy Holly, where you can visit the Buddy Holly Center. Also, don’t miss out on an out-of-this-world experience at the Moody Planetarium.
- Go from US-84 S to US-83 S before hitting I-10 S and stop inFredericksburg, TX at the Enchanted Rock State Natural Area, featuring a 425 ft pink granite monolith.
