What kind of oil does a Dodge Nitro take?

I borrowed my parents’ car over the summer while I had an internship and now i think it’s due for an oil change. I need help! What kind of oil does a Dodge Nitro take?

Getting acquainted with some of the finer details of a car’s maintenance can be a little confusing, but don’t worry, we’ve got your back! You can use 5W-20 oil in your parents’ Dodge Nitro.
If you can’t find 5W-20, you can substitute with semi-synthetic 10W-40. But the Nitro is built to operate at its best with the former.
It’s easy to find this type of motor oil at most auto supply shops and gas stations. The full capacity of the oil reservoir is about five quarts but you may not need this much.
Another option is to get a full oil change. If you drove a ton of miles over the summer, it may be time for a full-service oil change. You can find a mechanic to provide this service for between $30 and $100 (including the cost of the oil!).
Will you be getting your own car soon? Either way, make sure your
car insurance
situation is sorted out. It’s a good idea to stay on your parents’ policy while you’re in college so you can save money with the good student discount.
