No worries! I can tell you what kind of oil a
Chevy Impala
takes—but it depends on the year of your car.
  • 1966-1970 uses SA 10W-30 synthetic motor oil. If you live in warmer climates, you could also use 10W-40
  • 1993-2005 uses SAE 5W-30. If you live in cooler climates, you could also use 0W-30
  • 2005-2012 takes SAE 5W-30. If you live in a climate where the temperature falls below -20 degrees, you could also use 0W-30
  • 2013-present uses SAE 0W-20 for the 2.5L engine or 5W-30 for the 3.6L engine
The current generation of Impalas can take synthetic, conventional, or synthetic blend oils. Conventional oil is typically the most affordable, but synthetics are better at reducing friction.
An oil change is a low-cost way to keep your car’s engine running better—and when you do it yourself, you can control the quality of the oil that goes in. Maintaining the right type of
car insurance
will also help protect your vehicle (and you).
