Where is the 3 Million Mile Volvo now?
A few years ago, I read about a guy who had driven his Volvo over 3 million miles. It still seems like an insane amount of miles on a single car, and it’s something I strive to achieve as a thrifty car owner. However, I was thinking about it the other day, and I’m not sure what happened to the car. Where is the 3 Million Mile Volvo today?

The 3 Million Mile Volvo is now owned by Volvo, which purchased the car following the death of Irv Gordon, the 3 Million Mile Man. In 1966, Gordon purchased a Volvo P1800 from the dealer for just $4,150—a figure that proved to be a bargain. From 1966 to 2018, Gordon drove the car for more than 3 million miles, which he attributed to consistent car care and quality engineering and design.
Sadly, Gordon passed away in 2018 while doing a road trip in China. His children took possession of the car but sold it to Volvo for an undisclosed price. Volvo purchased the car not only for display but to study how the car was able to go so much further than any other car on the planet.
And just in case you were wondering, 3 million miles is equivalent to 120 trips around the equator or seven round trips from the Earth to the moon.
