What is the Connecticut electric vehicle rebate?

I want to do my part to help save the planet, so I’m trading in my current car for an electric vehicle. I’ve read that you can get some rebates by buying an electric car, but I’m not sure that it pertains to my state. Does Connecticut have an electric vehicle rebate?

You’re in luck!
Connecticut
has one of the most generous electric vehicle rebates in the country, offering up to $4,250 toward the purchase or lease of a new electric vehicle. To apply for the CHEAPR program, or the Connecticut Hydrogen and Electric Automobile Purchase Rebate, you must follow these directions:
  • Find a dealer that has registered for the program.
  • Fill out the CHEAPER application.
  • The rebate will be credited to the final price of the vehicle.
You can also do the same for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV). While these vehicles aren’t fully electric, they have a plug-in port and an all-electric range that’s usually about 15 to 50 miles. If you decide to buy a PHEV, the CHEAPER program provides a rebate of $2,250.
While the state of Connecticut will provide some money back, you stand to save even more money by comparing car insurance quotes with the
