How much can I save with the Connecticut electric vehicle incentive?

You could save a whopping $15,000 thanks to electric vehicle incentives.
The federal tax credit is up to $7,500 depending on the car’s battery capacity. Here are the state-level vehicle incentives:
  • Up to $5,000 from Connecticut Hydrogen and Electric Automobile Purchase Rebate Program (temporarily increase to $9,500 until December 31, 2021)
  • Up to $2,000 from Groton Utilities’ Electric Vehicle Rebate Program
  • Up to $1,000 from Norwich Utilities
You can also get a rebate for installing a qualified EVSE or
electric car charging station
(up to $2,000 from Norwich Utilities). Connecticut offers reduced registration fees to EV owners, as well.

How to get the Connecticut electric vehicle incentive

According to the
Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection
, if you purchase or lease an eligible vehicle you will receive an email with instructions for determining whether you qualify. Follow the instructions to apply for your rebate.
To access the rebates from
Groton Utilities
and
Norwich Utilities
, you must be a customer and prove that you have an eligible vehicle. Fill out the forms to request your rebate. Note that Groton limits the rebate to the first 20 customers.
