What do I do if my Infiniti G37 won’t start in the cold?

Last winter I had some trouble getting my Infiniti G37 started in the cold winter months. This year it’s even worse. I have another car and can get to work fine, but what’s causing this problem? Can I get this fixed, or is my car just getting old?

We’re sorry to hear your G37 is having trouble starting up in cold weather. There are definitely a few potential issues worth looking at, but we always have one prime suspect when we hear any car won’t start in cold weather: the car’s battery.
The chemistry happening inside your battery slows down considerably in colder weather, which in turn makes it harder for the battery to do its job and supply enough juice to the engine to get things started.
In most cases, you should be able to get the car started by simply turning off everything that draws electricity from the car battery. Headlights, the stereo, the heater … turn everything off so the battery has a better shot of getting the car started. Then, let the car run for a while so the alternator can recharge the battery.
If the battery is older—you’ve had it for three to five years, or longer—it might be time to have it replaced. You can do this at home, but definitely consult your car’s manual to make sure you buy the right battery for your Infiniti G37. If it isn’t that old and isn’t starting, you may want to try

, which might help.
There are a few other issues that might be at fault here. Older fuel pumps have been known to let moisture into fuel lines, which leads to small build-ups of ice that can prohibit the engine from starting properly. And if your engine has the wrong grade of motor oil—meaning the oil is too thick for the engine—it’ll have a harder time starting as a result.
In most cases where an Infiniti G37 won’t start in cold weather, the battery will be the issue, and usually because it’s too old. We hope this information helps you get your car started!
