What does it usually cost to put insurance on a car? I'm buying a car soon, and I want to get a feeling of what to expect price-wise.

The cost of putting insurance on a car will vary, but the average cost of car insurance in 2021 was $720 per year. In total, that comes down to about $60 per month. But each person has different insurance needs, so your rate may be entirely different.
To get a better idea of how much you’ll pay for car insurance, consider these factors:
- Age. Drivers between the age of 16 and 25 are classified as young drivers and will always have high rates.
- Location. When providing you with a quote, insurers will assess your overall risk. If you live somewhere with a high risk of natural disasters or crime, your rate may be higher than others.
- Driving history. People who have gotten into accidents are statistically likely to be involved in another one. Drivers with clean records are viewed as lower risk and will have lower rates.
- Insurance history. If you’ve been insured before and missed a payment or had a lapse in coverage, your rate will likely be higher.
