How much does it cost to fix a car’s emergency brake?

So, I was driving my darling younger sibling (junior high) to a soccer practice, and he thought it would be funny to pull the emergency brake *while I was driving*. Well, that was an interesting way to find out that mine doesn’t work. How much does it cost to fix an emergency brake?

At least you didn’t have to wait and find out in an emergency that your brake doesn’t work. Of course, using them doesn’t always have to be confined to emergencies: they’re also helpful for parking on steep slopes.
Your emergency
brakes
work independently from your car’s regular brakes, so they’re less likely to be affected if your primary, everyday brakes fail.
It’s recommended to use your emergency brake regularly, like when you’re parking, to keep it in good shape. If it hasn’t been used in a while, it could fall into disrepair from rust or other factors.
What’s important now is to get to a
mechanic
and see why the brakes are not working and get them fixed. Replacing your emergency brake cables could cost $300 to $400 depending on the make and model of your car.
When driving, you have to expect the unexpected, and it sounds like this was one of those times. Make sure you’re covered for future unexpected events with the right car insurance policy.
