How much are toll roads in North Carolina?
I’m taking the family for a summer trip to the Outer Banks, but we’ll have to use one of North Carolina’s toll roads to get there. How much are toll roads in North Carolina?

Toll roads in North Carolina will cost between $0.27 and $5.68.
Depending on how far you go on the 18.8-mile-long Triangle Expressway, a two-axle vehicle (most cars, SUVs, and trucks) will pay between $0.42 to $3.71 to use this toll road with an NC Quick Pass.
On the Monroe Expressway, a two-axle vehicle will pay anywhere from $0.27 to $2.72 (also using NC Quick Pass), depending on how far you go on this 18-mile route.
If you don’t use NC Quick Pass, you can use the Toll by Mail method, meaning you don’t have a transponder and cameras photograph your license plate. A bill for the toll will be mailed to you.
Toll by Mail is more expensive, with toll rates ranging from $0.64 to $5.68 on the Triangle Expressway, depending on how far you travel. On the Monroe Expressway, using the Toll by Mail method will cost you between $0.43 and $4.20, depending on how far you drive.
These prices are for two-axle vehicles only. If you have a three-axle vehicle (vehicles with six to 10 wheels), you will be charged **two times the two-axle vehicle rate. A four-axle vehicle (one with between eight to 14 wheels) will be charged four times the two-axle rate.
