How long is 4 miles of driving?

I’m looking to buy a new house about four miles away from downtown, where I work. I have a car, so it shouldn’t be a big deal to get to my office, but I don’t have a good frame of reference. How long would it take to drive four miles?

Cars can be huge time-savers. Luckily, four miles of driving should only take four to 12 minutes. Of course, the real time depends on the area and traffic conditions.
While a four-mile trip on the freeway will only take about four minutes since the speed limit is around 65 mph, it could take up to 10 minutes if you’re driving on residential streets with a speed limit of 25 mph.
Don’t forget, stop signs, traffic lights, and traffic could also slow your trip—especially if you leave at the wrong time of day. To make sure your commute is as quick as possible, try checking a
traffic app
before hitting the road.
