How long do I have to add a new car to my insurance with GEICO?

I'm currently insured with GEICO. I just bought a new car and haven't added it to my policy. How long do I have to add my new car to my GEICO insurance?

While
GEICO
has a 30-day grace period for adding a newly purchased vehicle, you should add your new car to your insurance as soon as possible.
As of right now, your current policy extends coverage to your new car. However, if you need a different
type of coverage
, you would have to add the vehicle to your policy first.
Use the GEICO app, log-in at GEICO.com, or call GEICO to add your new car to your GEICO policy:
  • Find the Policyholder Service Center (on the app or website).
  • Add your car.
  • Customize its coverage.
  • View your new premium.
If it has been longer than 30 days since you bought the car, you should not drive your new vehicle until you can confirm that it’s covered by insurance.
While you have a 30-day
grace period
, it’s important to add the vehicle ASAP. If anything happens to the second vehicle during this grace-period phase, the claim will likely be delayed due to the additional investigation that the insurance company will have to do for the unlisted vehicle.
