How far back does a driving record check go?

I’m applying for a job as a delivery driver. I just remembered that I have demerits on my driving record from when I was a teenager. How far back can an employer check your driving record?

That’s great you’re applying for a job!
Driving record checks can go back as far as three to 10 years depending on what state you live in. If your job involves driving, they may be more thorough when looking at your driving history.
It will also depend on the type of traffic violations that are on your record. Speeding and parking tickets won’t be considered past a certain number of years. However, DUIs or other serious infractions may be considered long after 10 years have passed.
Keep in mind that, in some states, demerit points expire after a certain time period. You can likely access this information on your state’s government or DMV website.
