How do you report someone for using a mobile phone while driving?

Is there a way to anonymously report someone for using a cell phone while they’re driving? One of my friends does it all the time and it freaks me out every time I’m in the car with her. I don’t want to get her in trouble, but I also don’t want her to get into an accident.

It’s great that you’re trying to look out for your friend. To report someone for using a mobile phone while driving, you can try contacting your local police department and giving them your friend’s full name and vehicle information. However, there usually isn’t much the police can do if your friend isn’t actively texting and driving in front of them.
If you’d like to report your friend while she’s driving, you can call 911 and report her as a
distracted driver
. The operator will typically send an officer to you to reprimand your friend and potentially give her a ticket.
