Why does my Honda Civic bog down when I’m accelerating?
Help! My trusty Honda Civic has been sluggish when I’ve been accelerating the past few times I’ve driven it. This is the first thing that’s ever gone wrong with it, and I don’t know what to do. Can you help me figure out why my Honda Civic bogs down when I’m accelerating?

Don’t panic—we’ve got you! Things that might cause a Honda Civic to bog down when accelerating include:
- Clogged fuel injectors
- Bad spark plugs
- Clogged air filter
- Clogged fuel filter
- Incorrect fuel/air mixture
- Clogged catalytic converter
This is by no means an exhaustive list, as there are, unfortunately, a lot of different things that can cause this symptom. Your best bet would be to get it checked out by a mechanic ASAP, as a delay could potentially make the issue worse.
