How do you put a Jaguar XF in neutral with a dead battery?

My Jaguar XF is dead, but it’s parked against my garage in a way that makes it impossible to jump! How can I put my car in neutral so that I can jump it?

Here’s how to put a
Jaguar XF
in neutral when the battery is dead:
  1. Open your center console storage bin as far as possible.
  2. Pull the rearmost piece of trim on your center console until it pops out of your vehicle. The right trim piece will be right up against the bin itself.
  3. Locate the red strap behind where the trim panel used to be and move it aside. This should reveal a small slot just to the left.
  4. Stick a coin into the slot and turn it.
  5. Press your foot on the brake and pull upward on the red strap. Be careful! This will shift your car into neutral, which means your vehicle will roll freely when you remove your foot from the brake!
